The Sachem East entered their tilt with the Ward Melville Patriots with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Sachem East secured a 32-27 W over Ward Melville on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Sachem East's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Ward Melville is ranked 116th).
When it comes to explaining why Ward Melville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Burgos. Despite the final result, he rushed for 80 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Daniel Brausch was another key contributor, rushing for 97 yards on only seven carries.
Sachem East is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Ward Melville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Sachem East will head out on the road to face off against William Floyd at 1:00 p.m. on November 4th. As for Ward Melville, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lindenhurst at 7:00 p.m.
