It was a good run, but the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 43-21 defeat at the hands of Northwestern Lehigh. Notre Dame-Green Pond was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-7.
Notre Dame-Green Pond's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Danny Darno, who threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was AJ Lozano, who picked up 83 receiving yards and a touchdown.
It was another big night for Dalton Clymer, who rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Clymer hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. Northwestern Lehigh also got a significant boost from Eli Zimmerman, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.
Notre Dame-Green Pond's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Northwestern Lehigh, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.
Notre Dame-Green Pond does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwestern Lehigh will face off against Palmerton at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Palmerton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Northwestern Lehigh likes a good challenge.
