This season hasn't been kind to the Clear Creek Golddiggers, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 33-32 to Non Varsity Opponent. Clear Creek was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Non Varsity Opponent apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2015.
Several Golddiggers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eliott Dunbar, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Indi Crawford, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Clear Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Clear Creek's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.3 points per game. As for Non Varsity Opponent, their win bumped their record up to 80-130.
Clear Creek will head out on the road to square off against SkyView Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully SkyView Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 back in December of 2023. Non Varsity Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Ninilchik at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Ninilchik focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 last Friday.
