The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers will head out on the road to take on the St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Calhoun Academy and seven for St. John's Christian Academy.
On Friday, Calhoun Academy came up short against Curtis Baptist and fell 34-21. While losing is never fun, Calhoun Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 252nd in South Carolina, while Curtis Baptist is ranked 122nd in Georgia).
St. John's Christian Academy lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 45-17 defeat at the hands of Cathedral Academy. St. John's Christian Academy has not had much luck with Cathedral Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Calhoun Academy dropped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.5 points per game. As for St. John's Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.
Calhoun Academy came up short against St. John's Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January, falling 34-29. Can Calhoun Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
