Softball Game Preview: Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets vs. Legacy Christian Academy Lions

The Good Samaritan HomeSchool Hornets will face off against the Legacy Christian Academy Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Good Samaritan HomeSchool has five straight victories, Legacy Christian Academy has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hull-Daisetta on Saturday. Good Samaritan HomeSchool blew past Hull-Daisetta 11-1. Considering the Hornets have won four matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kinley Fife made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Abigail Freeman was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Hannah Brown, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Legacy Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Southwest Louisiana HomeSchool two weeks ago, falling 11-0.

Good Samaritan HomeSchool's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Legacy Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
