The Purchase Line Red Dragons are taking a road trip to square off against the Bishop McCort Crushers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Purchase Line took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Blacklick Valley a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Red Dragons have won seven matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Rylee Mahaffey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brooklynn Walker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Bella Cessna also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Purchase Line always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.
Meanwhile, Bishop McCort made easy work of Greater Johnstown on Monday and carried off a 16-2 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Crushers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Kalina Bailey was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Pfeil, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Purchase Line is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop McCort, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
