Horton and Valley Falls are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Horton Chargers will be playing at home against the Valley Falls Dragons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Falls took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Horton, who comes in off a win.
Horton had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against McLouth as Horton made off with a 57-33 win. With Horton ahead 36-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Valley Falls couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 49-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oskaloosa on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Valley Falls got a solid performance out of Korie Kirkwood, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison Conner, who scored 5 points along with 10 rebounds.
Horton's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Valley Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Things could have been worse for Horton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-25 loss to Valley Falls in their previous matchup back in February. Can Horton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
