The Elverado Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Century Centurions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elverado has given up an average of 14.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Elverado duked it out with Vienna on Monday. The Falcons came up short against the Eagles, falling 15-0. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Century waltzed into their game on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They beat the Trojans by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-5. The Centurions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brandon Plott was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Plott was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jace Wright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one double. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adam Taake, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Century's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Elverado, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.
Elverado came out on top in a nail-biter against Century in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Centurions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
