The East Rowan Mustangs's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 67-27 victory over Gray Stone Day. With that win, East Rowan brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
East Rowan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Drake Jones, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Ti'Jon Everhart, who scored 15 points.
Despite the defeat, Gray Stone Day saw an underclassman step up: Gabriel Young scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Colt Greer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Gray Stone Day struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as East Rowan racked up 17 assists.
East Rowan's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for Gray Stone Day, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
East Rowan will head out on the road to face off against Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northwest Cabarrus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Wednesday. As for Gray Stone Day, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mount Pleasant at 7:30 p.m.
