Archbishop Molloy and St. Peter are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Stanners will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Archbishop Molloy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Archbishop Molloy will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Iona Prep on Saturday. The Stanners walked away with a 10-5 win over the Gaels.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea typically has all the answers at home, but on Sunday St. Peter's proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 7-2. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Vikings on their field since May 2, 2024.
Justin Levine was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Levine was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eddie Rethorn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jake Levine, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Archbishop Molloy's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 30-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Peter's, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Archbishop Molloy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like St. Peter's struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Archbishop Molloy's way against St. Peter's in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, as Archbishop Molloy made off with an 8-0 victory. Will the Stanners repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
