Basketball Recap: Baker Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Baker hadn't done well against Jay recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Baker Gators took down the Jay Royals 63-45. This was a revenge game for the Gators: when they faced off against the Royals last Thursday, they had to take a 49-44 defeat.

Baker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was AJ Chilton out in front who went 10 of 20 en route to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Chilton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Hardin, who posted eight points along with ten boards and four steals.

Baker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 19 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Baker has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for Jay, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5.

Baker has already played their next game (against Vernon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jay will square off against Destin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Destin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season.
