The Montesano Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Elma Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Montesano's strategy against Eatonville on Wednesday. Montesano walked away with a 56-44 victory over Eatonville. Given Montesano's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Eatonville is ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Elma waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Raymond by a score of 52-42. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 9 on the offensive boards, as Elma did.
Elma got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cason Seaberg out in front who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Vessey, who scored eight points.
The victory was the third in a row for Montesano, bringing their record for this year to 13-5. As for Elma, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Montesano couldn't quite finish off Elma in their previous meeting on January 9th and fell 56-53. Can Montesano avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
