Kim/Branson's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They put the hurt on La Veta with a sharp 68-46 win. Kim/Branson's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Kim/Branson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kolter Cranson out in front who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cranson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brock Doherty, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Manzanola, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were beaten by Walsh 58-16 on Friday. Manzanola was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.
Manzanola's loss came about despite a quality game from Canye Trujillo, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two steals. Jullian Chavez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Kim/Branson's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Manzanola, they bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Kim/Branson have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 23.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Manzanola struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
