Dakota Valley (9 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Deubrook extended the longest winning streak in Dakota Valley (9 Man) this week by beating Castlewood, 34-12. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Dolphins.
St. Mary was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Cardinals defeated Colman-Egan 36-30 earlier in the week.
Lake Preston's dynamic duo of Cole Casper and Michael Bradfield proved tough for Estelline to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Casper threw for 129 yards and one touchdown and Bradfield had 112 yards receiving. Peter Schukking helped Lake Preston's passing attack out by catching two balls for 12 yards.
Ryan Knutson was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 157 yards on 20 carries as Deubrook bested the Redmen. Dalton Kruse also contributed to the rushing game with 82 yards on the ground.
Patrick Bertsch made the biggest impact on defense this week as Lake Preston bested Estelline. The 6-foot-3 senior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Thanks to the talents of Taylor Olsen and Knutson Adolph Shepardson's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Olsen leads the league in passing with 229 yards, while Knutson has rushed for 910 yards this season. Dana Felderman's team's Bradfield leads the league in receiving yards with 127 on six catches.
The Dolphins' Knutson is a mere 90 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in Dakota Valley (9 Man) this week will be when Ross Flemmer's team takes on Deubrook. The Cardinals are in third place, while the Dolphins are in first place.
Arlington led the league in scoring this week after putting up 38 points on Elkton/Lake Benton MN.
