Baseball Game Preview: Spanish Springs Cougars vs. Damonte Ranch Mustangs

For the second straight game, Spanish Springs will face off against Damonte Ranch. The Cougars will welcome the Mustangs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Spanish Springs didn't have quite enough to beat Damonte Ranch and fell 7-6.

For Damonte Ranch's part, Samny DeSouza looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. DeSouza has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Topher Shirley, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was David Barajas, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Damonte Ranch moved to 2-14 with that win, which also ended their 14-game losing streak. As for Spanish Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.
