Tri-Cities Prep dropped down to 7-7 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Columbia Coyotes by a score of 20-19. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (ten), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.
Tri-Cities Prep got a massive performance out of Gracie Vincent, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Davis, who went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double.
As for Columbia, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
On Columbia's side, Makena Kranz made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up five earned (and 14 unearned) runs off 14 hits. Kranz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Sofia Ortega was incredible, going 5-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Amara Magana was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Looking ahead, Tri-Cities Prep will head out on the road to face off against Goldendale at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbia, they will square off against Warden at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
