Bergenfield and Fort Lee are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Bergenfield Bears will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Fort Lee Bridgemen at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Bergenfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 59-19 loss at the hands of Ramapo. Bergenfield has not had much luck with Ramapo recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, Fort Lee was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 44-38 to River Dell. Fort Lee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Fort Lee got a solid performance out of Guy Vickers, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Vickers is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Devin Jang, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Bergenfield's loss was their third straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-1. As for Fort Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Bergenfield strolled past Fort Lee in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a score of 51-36. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Fort Lee's Bemiwo Ogedegbe, who scored 16 points. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be that much easier for Bergenfield to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
