If the Durham Academy Cavaliers were riding high off their 62-36 takedown of the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Durham Academy took a hard 64-46 fall against Jordan on Wednesday. If Durham Academy hoped to take revenge for the 72-69 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
When it comes to explaining why Durham Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is JJ Wilcox. Despite the final result, he scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Joe Ruth, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jordan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zion Wells, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Julian Lowe was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Durham Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for Jordan, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will square off against Cary Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jordan on the road again on Friday and play against Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Chapel Hill is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.4 points per game.
