Columbus Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They lost 22-8 to the Edinburgh Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 on Monday.
Andrew Lucas stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Canon Carr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Edinburgh, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Edinburgh's side, Cole White made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. White was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Edinburgh let Ayden Swallows and Milas Burkman run wild. Swallows got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Burkman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. What's more, Swallows posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. Carter Mead-Whited was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
Coming up, Columbus Christian will welcome Tindley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Edinburgh, they will venture away from home to face off against Jac-Cen-Del at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
