Spalding is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Perry is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spalding Jaguars will take on the Perry Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Spalding's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
Spalding can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Westside 48-21 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Spalding got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Robert Henderson out in front who picked up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Curt Clark, who threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns on only nine passes.
Meanwhile, Perry didn't have too much trouble with Baldwin at home two weeks ago as they won 33-16. Given Perry's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Baldwin is ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ahmad Gordon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 201 yards and two touchdowns. Gordon is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Dakarai Anderson was another key contributor, gaining 95 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Spalding to 9-0 and Perry to 7-1.
Spalding was dealt a bruising 40-7 loss at the hands of Perry in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Spalding have more luck at home instead of on the road?
