Softball Recap: Captain Shreve Wins Going Away Against Summerfield

Captain Shreve had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Summerfield Rebels on Monday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Ella Hendrick was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Hendrick was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kennedi Dixon and Breanna Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Dixon scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those three runs gave Dixon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Meagan Hill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Captain Shreve hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summerfield struck out six times.

Captain Shreve's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Summerfield, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-6.

Looking ahead, Captain Shreve will challenge Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summerfield, they will face off against Choudrant at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
