Softball Recap: Arcadia Gets the Win

Arcadia let Arlington stack seven runs on them in the sixth inning on Monday but luckily Arcadia prevailed anyway. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Red Devils 13-12. The victory continues a trend for the Redskins in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Arcadia let Averie Smarr and Addyson McCartney run wild. Smarr got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while McCartney went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave McCartney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Carter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Arcadia lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got Arcadia back to even at 7-7. As for Arlington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Arcadia will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. As for Arlington, they will head out to challenge Liberty-Benton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
