Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Chief Sealth

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Chief Sealth walked away with it. They never let the Cleveland Eagles get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Seahawks have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sam Popelka looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chief Sealth let Seth Clark and Marko Woelfle run wild. Clark went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Woelfle went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Woelfle a new career-high. Brady Murphy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

The victory (which was Chief Sealth's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Chief Sealth will square off against Sultan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cleveland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
