The East Central Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their 17th straight defeat. They suffered a tough 60-36 loss at the hands of Stone. East Central has not had much luck with Stone recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brody Howard, who scored 12 points. Cartavious Myers was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Stone's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JaKobey Johnson, who scored 15 points along with six blocks and five rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ray Dennis, who scored 18 points along with five steals.
East Central's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Stone, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
East Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stone, they will head out on the road to face off against Laurel on Wednesday. Laurel will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Stone surely won't give up without a fight.
