Basketball Game Preview: Sound Christian Lions vs. Evergreen Lutheran Eagles

Sound Christian and Evergreen Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Sound Christian Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Evergreen Lutheran Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Sound Christian will head into Monday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Chief Kitsap Academy on Monday. Sound Christian blew past Chief Kitsap Academy 68-19. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Lions had established a 34 point advantage.

Sound Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makai Resseau, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Resseau has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Moses Stiver, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Sound Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen Lutheran). They blew past Puget Sound Adventist, posting an 82-43 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Sound Christian's record is now 3-1. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their record is now an identical 3-1.

Everything came up roses for Sound Christian against Evergreen Lutheran when the teams last played back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 68-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sound Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
