The West Davidson Dragons will head out to face off against the Reagan Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Davidson is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
West Davidson's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Lexington 17-0. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.
Mahala Darnell and Hannah Rollins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Darnell pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rollins struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Darnell scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Rollins went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Rollins has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Taylor Prince and Maci Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Prince went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Harris scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, Harris posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gracie Michael, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1.
West Davidson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Reagan faced West Forsyth in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Raiders fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-2. The Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
West Davidson pushed their record up to 13-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Reagan, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.
West Davidson suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Reagan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
