After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blake, the Spoto Spartans were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Strawberry Crest. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Spoto got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jose Deleon out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. Deleon hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Deacon Spencer was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Cameron Crowe and Hunter Hall certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Crowe scored 14 points along with five assists and four steals, while Hall scored 13 points along with two steals. Hall continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryon "Tra" Jones, who scored 11 points.
Even though they lost, Strawberry Crest were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. This was only their 13th loss (out of 15 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Spoto's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Strawberry Crest, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.
Spoto will look to defend their home court on Monday against Alonso at 7:00 p.m. Alonso is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Strawberry Crest, they will head out on the road to take on Brandon at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
