The Ropes Eagles will square off against the Dimmitt Bobcats at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ropes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Ropes needed a bit of extra time to put away Idalou. They won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 15, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Maddux Sierra, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Briggs Bourne, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ropes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dimmitt had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Patriots. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Uriel Prieto was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
Ropes' win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Dimmitt, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ropes hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. However, it's not like Dimmitt struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ropes' way against Dimmitt when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Ropes made off with a 10-1 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
