Claremore is 0-7 against Collinsville since October of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Claremore Zebras will be playing in front of their home fans against the Collinsville Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Claremore took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 55-14 win over Will Rogers College. Given Claremore's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Will Rogers College is ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braxton Etheridge was his usual excellent self, throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Gage Deckard, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Collinsville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They really took it to Edison for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-12 victory at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Collinsville had established a 23 point advantage.
Collinsville found their leader in underclassman Scott Rigby, who rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Moorman, who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns.
Claremore's win bumped their record up to 8-1-1. As for Collinsville, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Claremore has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 407.3 total yards per game. However, it's not like Collinsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 373.4 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Claremore came up short against Collinsville when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 28-21. Will Claremore have more luck at home instead of on the road?
