The Herriman Mustangs will take on the Bingham Miners at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Herriman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Mountain Ridge, who was ranked ninth at the time (Herriman was ranked 18th). The Mustangs fell just short of the Sentinels by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Herriman took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 25-18, 17-15.
Meanwhile, Bingham made easy work of Westlake on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Thunder recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Bingham not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Westlake between 14 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-17, 25-17.
Bingham's win came from a few key players Herriman will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jenn Truong, who had 16 digs and three aces. Ava Morley was another key player, getting 15 assists and seven digs.
Bingham's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Herriman, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.
Everything went Herriman's way against Bingham in their previous matchup back in September, as Herriman made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Miners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
