The Deep Run Wildcats will head out to take on the St. Catherine's Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It was a proper cat-fight when Deep Run duked it out with Hermitage on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Hope Tate and Emily Plank were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Tate pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Plank struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Tate has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Tate went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double, while Plank got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Plank has snagged this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braelyn Baulsir, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Pawlewicz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, St. Catherine's won against Saint Gertrude last Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Saints didn't even let Freeman on the board, marking the Saints' second-straight 6-0 shutout.
Like Deep Run, St. Catherine's also got a great game from a two-way player: Kinnady Branch. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Branch was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jordan Morey was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Izzy Viruet was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
St. Catherine's hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeman struck out seven times.
Deep Run's record now sits at 9-1. As for St. Catherine's, their record is now 10-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deep Run has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Catherine's struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Deep Run came up short against St. Catherine's in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, falling 10-6. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
