The Grand County Red Devils had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 77-64 victory over Gunnison Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Grand County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wyatt Toney led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Toney posted eight or more assists. Lane Berry was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Grand County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Gunnison Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Grand County will head out on the road to take on North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Summit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for Gunnison Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Sevier at 7:00 p.m.
