Farwell has gone 8-1 against Bovina recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Steers will square off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Farwell had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 22-point drubbing they dealt Friona on Friday. The Steers were the clear victors by a 49-27 margin over the Chieftans. The Steers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Farwell's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Coy Miller, who rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and Kolson Allen, who threw for 198 yards and three TDs. Allen has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Andrae Pullen made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Farwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Pullen and Ruben Molina. Pullen got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bovina was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They strolled past Smyer with points to spare, taking the game 24-8. The score was all tied up 8-8 at the break, but the Mustangs were the (much) better team in the second half.
Bovina's win came from a few key players Farwell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Xavier Garcia, who rushed for 71 yards and one score. Those 71 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Bovina's run defense was locked in: Smyer could only muster -2.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Alex Herrera for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bovina didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.6.
Bovina's defense didn't let Skyler Pond, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Garcia was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Farwell pushed their record up to 4-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.3 points over those games. As for Bovina, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Farwell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bovina struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 247.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Farwell against Bovina in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 39-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Steers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
