The Brookstone Cougars fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Westfield School with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 38-21. That's another feather in the cap for Brookstone, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brookstone got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lane Cannon out in front who rushed for 142 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gray Jones, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
Westfield School's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Stone St. clair, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Brookstone's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points per game. As for Westfield School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookstone will take on Strong Rock Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westfield School will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on St. Anne-Pacelli at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. St. Anne-Pacelli is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
