The Sammamish RedHawks came tearing into Saturday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 81-56 margin over Hazen. Given Sammamish's advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Hazen is ranked 216th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sammamish's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Barry Morrissette, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrissette has scored all season. Keith Kariuki was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Sammamish's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points per game. As for Hazen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Sammamish will stay at home for another game and welcome Evergreen at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hazen on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lake Washington at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd.
