Basketball Recap: First Coast Takes a Loss

First Coast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Bartram Trail Bears, falling 75-27. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 491st, while the Bears are ranked 88th).

First Coast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aray Bell, who posted six points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Bell has posted since back in November of 2024. Saniah Brown was another key player, putting up eight points.

Bartram Trail's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Donohue, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 21 points in addition to five steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Esabella Brenneman, who went 9 for 20 en route to 21 points and five assists.

First Coast's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Bartram Trail, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-6.

First Coast has already played their next match (against Mandarin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bartram Trail wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 31-24 defeat against Nease on the 29th.
