The Indianapolis Lutheran Saints will face off against the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Indianapolis Lutheran comes in on five and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on four.
Indianapolis Lutheran came out on top against Lawrence North on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Saints walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Wildcats.
The team relied heavily on Leyla Miller, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Shae Olson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Indianapolis Bishop Chatard sidestepped Beech Grove for a 4-3 win.
Kinsey Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Olivia Maynard was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one double. Anna Caskey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Indianapolis Bishop Chatard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive contests.
Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's victory bumped their record up to 20-9. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Indianapolis Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Indianapolis Bishop Chatard struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
