The Fernley Vaqueros stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Spring Creek 69-18 at home. Winning may never get old, but Fernley sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Fernley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Tollestrup, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Tollestrup hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Jasmyne Torres was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists and five steals.
Fernley pushed their record up to 19-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Spring Creek, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fernley will stay at home for another game and welcome Churchill County at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Churchill County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Spring Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elko at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elko is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
