Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morristown-Hamblen East). They blew past the Cosby Eagles 18-1 on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hurricanes considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Ella Wampler was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Harmony Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Hudson Cloninger was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Morristown-Hamblen East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
