Jefferson faced Bridgeport in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Indians. Considering the Cougars have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Braedon Oviedo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and one double.

Jefferson's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Bridgeport, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will face off against Frankfort at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bridgeport, they will square off against Buckhannon-Upshur at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
