Basketball Recap: Collinsville Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Donovan Coates and Stanley Carnahan

Collinsville lost against Belleville East back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Collinsville Kahoks came up short against the Belleville East Lancers, falling 62-39. While losing is never fun, the Kahoks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Lancers are ranked 48th).

Stanley Carnahan and Donovan Coates certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Carnahan went 5 for 9 en route to 11 points along with seven boards and three blocks, while Coates went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points. Those three blocks gave Carnahan a new career-high.

Collinsville has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Belleville East, their record now sits at 13-5.

Collinsville has already played their next match (against Sumner), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Belleville East will take on Althoff Catholic in a tournament on Friday.
