Reeltown is 0-10 against LaFayette since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Reeltown Rebels will be playing at home against the LaFayette Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Reeltown had to kick off their season on the road back in December of 2023, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over Holtville.
Reeltown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Finn Henderson, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Ja'Markius Smith was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Even though LaFayette has not done well against Lanett recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. LaFayette took down Lanett 62-48. Given LaFayette's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Lanett is ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Deaundra Vines, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The contest was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Johnson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Reeltown's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-0. As for LaFayette, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.
