The Springfield Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 64-50 bruising from Pope John Paul II. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Pope John Paul II is ranked 127th).
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tobias McGee, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Dequane Davis was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Springfield has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Pope John Paul II, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will take on Northlake Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pope John Paul II, they will be playing at home against Mt. Hermon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
