The Montgomery County Eagles put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Treutlen 69-41 on the road. Montgomery County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Montgomery County to victory were Marley Bell and Amire Banks. Bell dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds, while Banks dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists. Bell is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Adams, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
When it comes to explaining why Treutlen lost, one person who can't be blamed is ShaCaria Jackson. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points. That was a full 61% of Treutlen's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Montgomery County's victory was their 17th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0. As for Treutlen, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6.
Montgomery County will take on Jenkins County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkins County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Montgomery County is ranked 66th). As for Treutlen, they will head out on the road to take on Jeff Davis at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jeff Davis has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
