Basketball Recap: Lamar Piles Up the Points Against Lavaca

Lamar won the last time they faced Lavaca and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lamar Warriors breezed by the Lavaca Golden Arrows to the tune of 71-34. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 27 points or more this season.

Lamar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kendrick Carr, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Carr a new career-high in blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaz Crotts, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Lamar was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lavaca, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

Lamar will take on Mansfield in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lamar's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lavaca, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-27 defeat against Subiaco Academy on the 19th.
