The Taunton Tigers will head out to challenge the Bishop Feehan Shamrocks at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Taunton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so Bishop Feehan's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Taunton fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Durfee on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 2-1. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Johnny Escobalez spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Taunton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Dorr, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Dorr is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Bishop Feehan not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since May 5th (when they won 11-4). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cardinal Spellman a 7-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Shamrocks in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.
Not much got past Ayden Mello, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Cardinal Spellman off the board. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Mello.
At the plate, Colin McEwan was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Nolan Harvey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Bishop Feehan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal Spellman only posted a batting average of .125.
Bishop Feehan's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Taunton, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Taunton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Bishop Feehan struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taunton came up short against Bishop Feehan in their previous matchup back in April, falling 5-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
