Wood River is 7-2 against Shelton since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Two weeks ago, Wood River rang in the new year with a 66-58 victory over Ravenna. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wood River.
Meanwhile, Shelton put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 84-41 win over Giltner on the road. Shelton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Ashton Simmons was his usual excellent self, scoring 36 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Romero, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Wood River has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Shelton, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Wood River came up short against Shelton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 60-56. Can Wood River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
