The Choctawhatchee Indians struggled with offensive rebounds on Friday (the Niceville Eagles had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Choctawhatchee lost to Niceville at home by a decisive 64-47 margin. Choctawhatchee has not had much luck with Niceville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Choctawhatchee lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Olivia Alexandre, who scored 17 points. Alexandre scored a full 36.2% of Choctawhatchee's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Diaris Morales was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Choctawhatchee were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Niceville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Kimball, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Kimball is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Fayard, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Choctawhatchee's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Niceville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Choctawhatchee will stay at home for another game and welcome Escambia at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Escambia is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Niceville will be home for the holidays to greet Crestview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Crestview is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
