Two dominant guards in Khamai Orange and Josiah Hutson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Delaware County Christian Knights will head out to challenge the Chester Charter Scholars Academy Sabers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Delaware County Christian is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Church Farm: they outscored them in every quarter. Delaware County Christian blew past Church Farm 84-59 on Thursday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Griffens are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Delaware County Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karter Shaheed-Freeman, who went 10 of 12 on his way to 23 points along with six boards and five steals. Shaheed-Freeman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Lyren, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five steals.
Delaware County Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Chester Charter Scholars Academy entered their tilt with Morrisville on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Bulldogs, posting an 85-47 victory.
Delaware County Christian better keep an eye on Hutson. He was instrumental in Chester Charter Scholars Academy's win, going 7 of 10 en route to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Barnes, who posted ten points and five rebounds.
Delaware County Christian pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Chester Charter Scholars Academy, their record is now 10-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Delaware County Christian and Chester Charter Scholars Academy are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Delaware County Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 70.5 points per game. However, it's not like Chester Charter Scholars Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 75.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Everything came up roses for Delaware County Christian against Chester Charter Scholars Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2017, as the team secured a 67-37 victory.
