Niskayuna has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Albany Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Niskayuna was the victim of a rough 51-28 defeat at the hands of Averill Park. While losing is never fun, Niskayuna can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Averill Park is ranked third).
Meanwhile, Albany was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 40-39 to Shenendehowa. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Albany has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Albany saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Iyana Weedon, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Azera Gates, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Niskayuna has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. As for Albany, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Niskayuna couldn't quite finish off Albany in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 and fell 50-47. Thankfully for Niskayuna, Shonyae Edmonds (who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
